We believe that regular detoxification is an important part of a proactive healing program for optimal health. The ozone steam sauna can be a part of this detoxification program for some clients. The combined oxygenation and detoxification effects of ozone and sauna therapy can provide some amazing healing attributes.
*We make no medical claim to the usage of the Ozone steam sauna and it is the patient’s responsibility to consult with a medical doctor prior to the use of any steam/ sauna/ hot tub.
Ozone, or “activated oxygen” is introduced into a unique steam sauna cabinet, where it is then absorbed transdermally (through the skin).
An ozone generator converts usable oxygen (O2) to a super-charged version of oxygen known as ozone (O3 – 3 separate oxygen atoms). The steam surrounds the body opening the pores, penetrating ozone through the skin and ultimately to the bloodstream. Once within the bloodstream, the ozone travels to the fat and lymph tissues, ultimately absorbing into the mitochondria of the cell. Furthermore, by stimulation of the sweat glands, the heat of the sauna increases the eliminative, detoxifying and cleansing capacity of the skin.
- Dramatically increases oxygenation of the tissues and cells thus helping to reducing pain and inflammation
- By aiding circulation and loosening muscles, the ozone steam reduces the build up of lactic acid, helping to increase muscle flexibility and helping in the repair of injured muscles
- Increased heart rate and sweating may be used in conjunct with a person’s personal detoxification program and can help eliminate unwelcome toxins. Ozone assists by oxidizing toxins so they can be eliminated through the skin, lungs, kidneys and colon. **You can burn upwards of 400-600 calories per session which is not ideal for every client. Please consult your physician if you have any concerns regarding this.
- Ozone can be an effective treatment for all types of fungi in the body including
- systemic candida albicans
- athletes’ foot
- molds, mildews and yeasts
- Ozone can be an integral part of healing for many types of skin disorders including:
Recommended time in the steam is 20-30 minutes.Depending on the desired outcome of each client, we suggest starting off with 1-3 times weekly, but a monthly steam for prevention and maintenance is also beneficial. The steam is a great adjunct after a treatment to expedite the healing process and recover faster.
First time Session - $30
Regular drop-in rate - $50
Monthly Rate (Must be used within the month of purchase) - $400 for 10 sessions
Add-on steam to any session of Physiotherapy or Acupuncture - $40

As ozone is not FDA approved for medical use, we are navigating the controversial publicity that these machines have created. We aim to educate our clients on the many beneficial uses of ozone and share research that shows these cases via websites, medical journals and international research sources.
The first ozone generator for medical use was produced in 1896 by Nicola Tesla and in 1900 he patented his design. Originally hospital equipment was sterilized with ozone before bleach was available as it has such potent anti microbial and anti bacterial abilities. Here is some interesting links to learn about Tesla and his inventions.
The ozone steam was designed by Dr. Frank Shallenberger, known as the godfather of molecular medicine; this machine is a safe way to administer ozone into the body as it is done transdermally (through the skin) and absorbed into the mitochondria of the cell. Ilana Moon at Yarrow Physiotherapy and Acupuncture had the opportunity to study with Dr. Shallenberger. Ilana was introduced to the ozone steam in 2018 and has since purchased one (with business partner, Cheryl Murphy ) to assist her clients in their recovery and healing journey. Yarrow Physiotherapy & Acupuncture has had the ozone steam open since September 2022 and we are excited be a part of this journey with our clients.
Though the medical establishment tried relentlessly to tarnish Dr. Shallenberger’s name and published websites to discredit him, he has been training doctors and practioners for over 30 years and in his career has changed the usage of ozone in the United States. He himself trained in Germany over 35 years ago and since then has helped countless number of clients reverse disease and live a better healthier life with better disease management. Here are some links to Ilana’s personal website on ozone with some valuable links to research more.
There are many studies published in medical journals on the uses of ozone and much of this research shows very promising effects on healing. Below are some quotes and links to reputed research journals:
“O3 has also been shown to improve blood circulation and oxygen delivery to ischemic tissues.29 Multiple studies have provided evidence that the correction of chronic oxidative stress via the increase of antioxidant enzymes in O3 can increase erythroblast differentiation. This leads to a progressive increase in erythrocytes and preconditions them to having resilience towards oxidative stress. This is known as “oxidative preconditioning”.1,30 Also, O3 increases levels of prostacyclin, a known vasodilator.
In conclusion: O3 therapy can alter the natural history of several disease and disorders, with potentially many more yet untested. A plethora of laboratory studies have provided evidence of O3's antioxidant capabilities, as well as vascular, hematological, and immune system modulations. This evidence has been further substantiated in clinical trials with O3 therapy being useful in the cardiovascular, subcutaneous tissue, peripheral vascular disease, neurological, head and neck, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary pathologies. O3 therapy has proven especially beneficial in the diabetic foot, ischemic wounds, and peripheral vascular disease, areas in which O3 use is most prevalent. Upcoming laboratory and translational research should begin to develop protocols for O3-AHT in attempts to establish a dose-response relationship as it has demonstrated high utility in a myriad of pathologies at varying concentrations. Despite the presently compelling evidence, future studies should include more double-blind, randomized clinical trials with greater sample sizes, determination of longevity in benefits produced, as well as methods of measurements and analysis.

On the international stage, though many of these links here require a membership, I want you to see how expansive the use of ozone is internationally. https://www.ioa-pag.org/
Ozone is popular in many countries around the world, especially Germany, Italy, Russia, and Cuba. Canada is slower to allow ozone for use in medical establishments, though it has been proven its efficacy internationally. Locally in Victoria, you can go get ozone IV therapy through the Naturopath Dr. Rohan, you can go get ozone injections for dentistry, and you can use our ozone steam.

MECHANISM OF ACTION
Inactivation of bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast and protozoa: Ozone therapy disrupts the integrity of the bacterial cell envelope through oxidation of the phospholipids and lipoproteins. In fungi, O3 inhibits cell growth at certain stages. With viruses, the O3 damages the viral capsid and upsets the reproductive cycle by disrupting the virus-to-cell contact with peroxidation. The weak enzyme coatings on cells which make them vulnerable to invasion by viruses make them susceptible to oxidation and elimination from the body, which then replaces them with healthy cells.Stimulation of oxygen metabolism: Ozone therapy causes an increase in the red blood cell glycolysis rate. This leads to the stimulation of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate which leads to an increase in the amount of oxygen released to the tissues. Ozone activates the Krebs cycle by enhancing oxidative carboxylation of pyruvate, stimulating production of ATP. It also causes a significant reduction in NADH and helps to oxidize cytochrome C. There is a stimulation of production of enzymes which act as free radical scavengers and cell-wall protectors: glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase. Production of prostacyline, a vasodilator, is also induced by
