Our Story

Yarrow Physiotherapy and Acupuncture has been the first choice in sports physiotherapy in the heart of downtown Victoria since 1987.

Our convenient central location in the banking, business, and hotel district allows patients to book appointments during their lunch hour, coffee breaks or after work. Offering a wide range of treatment options, we strive to custom fit the approach and pace of therapy to the individual needs of our patients.

Cheryl Murphy

Registered Physiotherapist

Cheryl has been a registered physiotherapist and acupuncturist since receiving her B.Sc. Biology from the University of Manitoba, and then her B.Sc. P.T. from UBC in 1996. After working in a variety of clinical practices in the lower mainland Cheryl joined the Yarrow team in 2004. She has competed at the highest level of Triathlon (Sprint and Ironman), Duathlon, 10K, and marathon. She placed 6th when representing Canada in the 2008 World Duathlon Championships.

Cheryl is a very hands on physiotherapist, using a head to toe approach, including Kinetic Link Training exercises. By combining her extensive experience and winning training techniques she has built a reputation as a leading sports physiotherapist.

Wendy Gott

Registered Physiotherapist and Acupuncturist

Wendy received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia in 1971. She completed her Medical Acupuncture training from CAFCI in 2005 and obtained her Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist License in 2011.

Along with a wealth of experience, she gained in varied therapeutic settings in the western US and BC, she has extensive training from leading experts in Musculoskeletal injuries. She joined our team part-time in 2007 and quickly developed a faithful following. In recent years, Wendy has added to her extensive repertoire with advanced training in Stroke Rehabilitation and acupuncture application-specific to neurological patients.

Ilana Moon

Registered Acupuncturist

Ilana Moon is a registered acupuncturist with over 22 years as a holistic massage provider. She has created a unique style of working utilizing her background in massage and combining it with TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) techniques combining massage, acupuncture and cupping all within the same session. She has found utilizing acupuncture needles in an IMS (intramuscular) style or in a classic Chinese medicine style followed up with massage, cupping or gua sha has a profound effect in moving pain, inflammation, and stress aiding the body to bring about a relaxed state of being and relieving pain whether chronic or acute.

Ilana’s background in massage includes certification through the Art of Conscious Touch Bodywork, Tuina Chinese massage, AIS (Active Isolated Stretching). Hot stone massage, mobile chair massage topped up with Orthopedic assessment techniques to identify specific muscle entrapment and pain sources.

Genevieve Bussieres

PhD. R.Ac., Registered Acupuncturist

Genevieve graduated the Diploma of Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Oshio College and a licensed and registered Acupuncturist specializing in Internal Medicine and the Circulatory and Lymphatic System. Integrating her diverse training and experience, she provides specialized care for individuals experiencing edema, water retention, and cancer-related conditions such as lymphedema. She also supports immune system function and treats circulatory concerns including varicose and spider veins, poor circulation, and cold sensations in the extremities. Each treatment is carefully tailored to the individual’s condition and health goals to ensure safe, supportive, and effective care. Complementary modalities such as acupressure, cupping, and Gua Sha may be incorporated alongside acupuncture to enhance therapeutic outcomes.

Genevieve brings comprehensive experience in Gerontology, Palliative Care, Oncology Care, Lymphatic Therapy, and trauma recovery. Over the course of 15 years as a palliative care provider, she developed a deep understanding of the circulatory and lymphatic systems, as well as the body’s intricate healing processes.

She was raised in Montreal in a family that valued wholesome nutrition, laughter, and natural medicine. Both of her parents are natural health practitioners who own and operate a clinic in Montreal. Growing up immersed in this healing environment inspired her to pursue a lifelong career in holistic health.

Before settling in Victoria, Genevieve spent many years traveling the world, deepening her understanding of natural medicine through hands-on learning and cultural exchange in Africa, South America, and other regions. These experiences broadened her perspective and enriched her approach to healing.

Drawn to the depth and sophistication of Traditional Chinese Medicine—one of the world’s oldest continuously practiced systems of medicine—she enrolled at Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology. She graduated and became a Licensed Acupuncturist and went on to complete the Doctorate Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine, further advancing her clinical expertise. She now maintains a well-established and growing practice.

Cindy Hui Qiao Lu

Cindy Lu is a registered acupuncturist who provides personalized care by combining the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern clinical approaches. She specializes in treating pain, including neck, shoulder, and back pain, as well as stress and sleep disorders. Her goal is to restore balance and support the body’s natural healing abilities.

In addition to acupuncture, Cindy also offers Tuina massage and cupping therapy as part of her comprehensive treatment approach. She has been trained for the Lymphatic system treatment by Genevieve, so she can cover her patients while she is gone for her mat leave. She will probably be staying on with us as a permanent practitioner, when Genevieve returns. 

Also please welcome Jessie, she will be working only on Monday’s. Jessie and Genevieve worked together at Happy Feet and both have a lot of experience in Tuina massage technique. 

Dr. Juan Huang

Dr. Juan Huang, PH.D. Reg. Dr. TCM.

Dr. Juan Huang has received her PH.D. in internal medicine of TCM at Beijing University of TCM and Pharmacology, Beijing, China. She has over 30 years of clinical experience both in China and Canada, including 13 years  practicing both at Guixi municipal Hospital( Jiangxi province, China ) and Dongzhimen Hospital which is the affiliated hospital of Beijing University of TCM and Pharmacology (Beijing, China) and 15 years  practicing Academy of Classical Oriental Science and Calgary college of Acupuncture and TCM Outpatient Clinic(Nelson B.C. and Calgary AB) and 7 years practicing in Metro integrated health clinic. She has successfully treated many difficult diseases in internal medicine, gynecology and male disease, such as acute and chronic Bronchitis, Asthma, Emphysema, Pulmonary Heart disease,  arrhythmia , coronary heart disease, Insomnia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Digestive ulcer, Colitis, Depression, Stroke, ADD, Fatigue, Pain management, Restless legs, Cancer,  abdominal bloating, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Dupreten’s Contracture(tendon’s contraction),  Biliary Cirrhosis, anemia, Hypothyroidism, Menstrual disorders, PMS, Menopausal syndrome, and male sterility etc. with acupuncture and herbal medicine in both China and Canada.

Dr. Huang has over 25 years of teaching experience both in China and Canada. She has been principle instructor at Academy of Classical Oriental Science in Nelson B.C. for 13 years and at Calgary college of Acupuncture and TCM for 3 years, as well as 7years at Pacific Rim College. She has taught a broad range of courses from Diagnosis, Acupuncture therapeutics, Herbology, Formula, internal medicine, external medicine, gynecology, Pediatric  and classic courses etc. She also has teaching experience at TCM College in Vancouver. Dr. Huang was a highly esteemed lecture at the Capital Medical University (Beijing) and Qualified instructor that private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA ) in B.C. has issued. She has numerous articles published in academic Chinese medicine journals.

Now Dr. Huang is seeing patients at Yarrow physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic.  She is also teaching and supervising in the student’s clinic at Pacific Rim College.
